Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas and a safe and fun New Year's Eve! Both holidays were totally low key for us, which was perfect. Especially since none of us have been feeling very well for what seems like the past month. I will share more on Christmas later when I get the pictures off of the camera and onto the computer. For now, however, I am sharing my New Year's Resolution: Get Your Shit Together. I was told that this is too aggressive (I totally had to just chant that cheer from high school to spell that *face palm*) and too broad of a subject matter...so I thought more about it and broke it into about 20 different categories.....here goes:
1)Eliminate undue stress by keeping up with your housework- In other words...don't wait until your home looks like a frat house before you clean it up. Let me interject a note: it's not DIRTY...it's messy...as in, no there's not week old dishes sitting around, or garbage piled everywhere...it's just messy...and it drives me absolutely nuts! By doing this I will be able to spend more time with my son and husband on our days off together instead of spending all day getting frustrated that it's taking forever to clean the house.
2) Organize your mind- I'd forget my head if it wasn't attached these days. So, I need to take the time to sit down and write EVERYTHING down so I don't forget anything...and learn to not wait to do something until it's too late and I'm running out the door...
3)Keep the car clean and in good repair- Ugh. I thought keeping up with car mess was bad before we had a toddler! Something I need to do every day. I'm also going to try to keep the gas tank half full and make sure the oil is changed in a timely manner.
4) Shuck more money away into savings- enough said
5) Learn to manage my time more wisely- Not just in order to accomplish more, but also in who I spend my time with. I should spend less time with those who just make me feel bad about myself, and more time with those whom I like to be around, and who like to be around me. Easier said than done, though.
6) Spend more time in my faith- Go back to church, at least once a month.
7) Spend more time on ME- All mothers can say "Amen" to this, I am sure. I LOVE my family...but a girl needs some alone time every once in awhile. I haven't really taken any since Hogan was born. Sure, I have had days where he's been with a babysitter...but it's always either because I'm busy at work, or need to do a quick house cleaning, or need to go to the doctor or something that's not just sitting and relaxing, or taking a freaking NAP! I am a believer that in order to take better care of those around me, I need to take better care of myself.
8) Stop feeling guilty- I have the world's most guilty conscience! Someone in Bolivia can say that someone hurt their feelings and I instantly feel guilty and think "oh no! What did I say?" even though I have never met said Bolivian. It comes from a lifetime of being sent on guilt trips by the older generations...:sigh: gotta love em.
9) The million dollar resolution- I said last year that 2013 was the year I was FINALLY going to get healthy. While steps were certainly taken in the right direction, I am still FAR from where I want to be. I have more than a few issues with this topic...with myself and with others. You can read more about this here.
10) Be the good- Be kind, be patient, be generous.
11) Take a Vacation- a VACATION....not just a trip.
12) Put down your phone- Seriously....put it down.
There you have it...my New Year's Resolution list. Think I'll be able to get er done? I certainly hope so! I also hope that 2014 is the best year yet!

Christmas Spirit!
Hey Everyone! I know I haven't posted on here in a long time but I am going to start back up. I only have 45, okay, 2 blogs that I bounce between :) I am having a wonderful day today. I just feel good. Maybe it's the snow we got last night.
With less than a week until Christmas, I am finding myself being confused on how I am feeling this year. The past few years I have been so hum drum about Christmas. Last year was better since we had Hogan. This year I am feeling the happy spirit, It just seems like everyone else I am around is being a total grinch, and it totally makes me lose my buzz! I wanted to put antlers and a red nose on the car, but Jason wouldn't let me....jeesh!
I am turning up the heat on everyone's Christmas spirit this weekend though! We are going to go out to dinner and to drive around lookingin people's windows at Christmas lights tomorrow after work. Saturday I am hanging out with my mama's group and taking them some Christmas goodies. Sunday, I'm thinking church, then family time watching Christmas movies!! Monday I'll get the house cleaned up for company and then Tuesday is CHRISTMAS EVE! YAY! I work until noon, then we'll get ready for our family dinner and gift exchange. I'd like to go to Christmas Eve services at church, but we'll see how long the part-ay lasts. Then we go home and open ONE gift (always new jammies) and watch our favorite Christmas movie- Christmas Vacation- before bed.
I am excited for Christmas morning! Hogan is getting some INSANE gifts this year...and he's only one...it can only get worse from here ;) More on that later!

Summatime!
Oh my stars!! It has been much, MUCH too long! This summer has FLOWN by! We have been so stinking busy I don't even know where to start. Let's see...We kicked off our summer by going to visit family in Kansas over Memorial Day Weekend. We went to the ZOO, had a picnic, and got to enjoy some much needed time with Jason's grandparents.
We took Hogan on his first camping trip over the 4th of July. He absolutely loved playing in the creek and in the dirt and going for pickup rides up in the mountains. We got to see a herd of about 100 elk that were mostly bulls...it was awesome.
We celebrated with two of our best friends as they said "I Do".
Hogan and I went on a trip to Washington to see my brothers and their families.
We took in the fair and rodeo, and had my nephew visit for 2 weeks.
We got to celebrate our first Mother's and Father's Day.
We celebrated with two more of our best friends as they welcomed their baby girl into the world.
Between those events, there have been play dates, mommy group, trips to the pool, and of course work...and the summer isn't even over yet. We still have Birthday parties to go to and one to throw ourselves as Hogan is turning ONE in September! I can't even believe it has been almost a year since that little miracle blessed my life.
I am looking forward to Fall and taking yet ANOTHER trip to California to see my best friend get married.
I know that this post is TOTALLY grammatically incorrect...but I don't really care at this moment. I hope you all are having a fabulous Summer and getting out in the sunshine!

Happy Spring!
Hey kids! How are you? It's been too long. Like how I start this out like a conversation we're having? Me too. ;D I am sitting here listening to Call Me Maybe thinking about what the heck I should write since there has been diddly going on around here for the past however long. I am SO excited that the spring weather is starting to come around. Hogan and I have been enjoying walks out in the sunshine a lot. The other day we went and helped my Grandpa feed the cows and horses. Hogan had a good time and even got to take his first "ride" on our donkey Dolly, AND got to help Grandpa drive the feed truck. It was too cute. I don't know who had more fun, Hogan or Grandpa! Since he was in such a good mood that day, I went ahead and took his 6 month pictures too!

BO-RING!
Hey guys! I hope that this finds you all doing well! It's been a while since I posted something on here so I figured I'd throw something out there! Life has been pretty uneventful since my last post. Work, motherhood, marriage...woo. I'm not gonna lie, I am kinda over this snow business. I am ready for some fun in the sun!
Valentine's day was NUTTER BUTTERS at the flower shop. We had my grandma, my aunt, my great aunt, my mom, and my cousin's girlfriend here to help us. Totally okay with my mom and the cousin's girlfriend...the others were driving me to drink!!! My other aunt stayed home from work that day and watched Hogan for me so I didn't have to take him with me...that would have been an experience...and since the above mentioned grandma and aunt and great aunt will NEVER get out of his face...(which he doesn't enjoy)...it was for the best. Don't get me wrong, I love these ladies...but enough is enough....and I had had enough by the time Valentine's Day rolled around after being with them all week. Enough bitching, though!
Other than that things have been pretty dull. My nutritionist is only seeing me every other month now...so no updates about that (New Years Resolution Post)
Hogan is growing like a little weed. He has started on foods. So far he has tried Apples (wasn't a fan), bananas, squash, green beans, and sweet potatoes. (he liked all of those) and of course oatmeal cereal. He brings me so much happiness! LOVE his little cheeks and his chubby little thighs! I could go on and on about how much I love him and how stinking adorable he is but I won't.
Take care!

New Year's Resolutions & Word of the Year
Good day all!! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend, and had a blast ringing in the new year! We spent New Year's Eve in the company of good friends, good food, and good times. I kissed the men in my life at midnight, drank a glass of wine, and had the best time I have had in months! It was EXACTLY what I needed...to have fun.
ONWARD!
New Year's Resolutions: 2013
1) Get Fit. Okay...so I know that I say this EVERY year...but this year, I totally mean it. I have a bigger reason now, than I ever have. My son...he deserves a mommy that has the energy to play with him, a mommy that isn't too fat to ride horses with him, and to not have a joke as a mom.
I have started a 6 month membership to our new local gym, and due to my recent diet change most sweets and basically anything that's not good for me are out the window. I already see a nutritionist so...not change there. Not to mention that I am just plain ol' sick and tired of being "the fat girl" So...steps in the proper direction! I will be checking in once a month after I meet with my nutritionist to let you know how it's going.
2) Drink More Water: I am AWFUL at making sure I am drinking enough water...especially when I am busy...which is all the time now...SO, I downloaded an app (Water Your Body) on my phone that reminds me every hour to drink water...and I can keep track of how much I have drank throughout the day.
3) Read A Book Every Week: I got two new books for Christmas, and I am borrowing 3 more from a friend that I am DYING to read...I have one down...4 to go until I have to figure out what I will read next. I have decided to not read any Parent books...I just want to figure things out on my own. I have these books and I will use them if I need to reference something...but beyond that...I ain't doin' it! I went information bonkers while I was pregnant and I don't want to do that now...and I think I am doing a damn good job so far. Hogan is healthy, and he's so very happy...what more do you need?
4) Go To Church: I haven't been to church since last February. I want to go back, but every Sunday I make an excuse not to get my big ass out of bed and go. "I'm too tired", "It takes up half of the day", "I don't want to go alone", "I don't want Hogan to start crying in the middle of the service"...well... It's time to say "Big effing deal. Get up, and get your ass in that Pew!" if Hogan starts crying...get up and walk out into the front...they show the service out there too. Sit and feed him or change him or bounce him...whatever he needs until he stops crying and then go back in and sit back down...it's not that difficult!
5) Be The Good: I always complain about how people treat each other, myself included...I'm not making any excuses for myself. My behavior towards some people is appalling.I want to be a good role model for my son..and to practice what I preach no matter how people treat me. This doesn't mean that I will let people walk all over me...or simply ALLOW them to treat me badly...it just means, that no matter what, I will do what I believe to be right, what I believe God would want me to do in those situations.
WORD OF THE YEAR: 2013
Patience
Last year...Hope.
There you have it! I hope this week treats you all well!

Hogan's First Christmas
Hogan got SPOILED on his first Christmas! These are just a few of our favorite items he received from family, friends, and Santa.
Fisher-Price Growing Baby Tiger Stacker- So effing cute! Hogan hasn't shown much interest in this yet, but I'm sure it will be no time at all until he is reaching for this toy!
MAM Cooler Teether; NUBY Icy Bite Teething Keys; Fisher-Price Precious Planet Polar Bear Teether- I do believe we have an early teether on our hands...he is drooling everywhere and chewing on EVERYTHING he can get his hot little hands on. So these are a big hit with him, especially the ones we can put in the freezer!
Lightning McQueen CD Boombox- Hogan LOVES music. So, his Oma got him this CD player and a couple of baby song CD's to listen to!
Silver Piggy Bank- I wanted one of these from the moment I found out I was pregnant, so Santa brought Hogan one.
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?- by Eric Carle. I love, love, love his books, and Hogan seems to like this one too.
Fisher-Price Bright Beginnings Activity Walker- So, he's not walking yet...haha. But when he learns to sit up, which isn't too far away, this lays down to be more like a table, so he will be able to fiddle with all the gadgets on this.
Bright Starts Get Movin' Music Player-Again...loves music, loves this!
Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby Activity Zone- Hogan is a strong little squirt, and he loves to stand and bounce...so naturally, we had to get him one of these! Well...Great Grandpa and Grandma got it for him.
Safety 1st Sounds and Lights Discovery Walker- His feet don't touch the floor, so we have to put pillows under them, haha, but he likes to sit in this and play with the gadgets. I have it at work to keep him occupied for a little bit while I am busy.
Mortimer The Moose by Lamaze- The Favorite of the favorites! Totally in love with this guy! I really want the rest of the Lamaze critter crew for Hogan now after buying this...SO freaking adorable!
Blanket Sleepers by Carters- Hogan got several of these for Christmas and they are the softest snuggliest jammies EVER! I would SO go mental and buy 5,000 pairs of these for him if money were no object!
Well there you have it...our Christmas favorites. Of course he got many, many more things...lots of clothes, more toys, snuggly soft blankets and even a camp chair for next summer. I will add some pictures of him looking Snazzy in his Christmas outfit later...but I have to download them. Happy New Year!

Eat, Drink and Be Merry!
Bonjour! (And, that is the extent of the "non dirty" words I remember from French class!)
But, anyways...Last week, we found out that our poor little Hogan has a milk protein allergy, and more than likely a Soy allergy. How did we find this out? He had blood in his poop! BLOOD! I was on the verge of a mommy panic breakdown, guys! I called our pediatrician and assumed that she would tell me to rush him to the ER, ASAP! But....she just calmly said that he probably just has a milk protein allergy, and as long as he has no fever, his tummy isn't hard, and he is acting normal, it wasn't anything to worry about immediately, and to bring him in the next day to her office. PHEW!
I took him in the next day, she examined him and took a look at the poopy diaper, and said that it looked to be what she thought. She said that if I wanted to keep breastfeeding, I would have to cut out dairy (Casien & Whey) as well as Soy (to be on the safe side). If not...I could give him this formula that costs $36 a can! I LOVE breastfeeding my son, so naturally I decided to cut dairy and soy from my diet so I could continue to breastfeed him. I thought that it would be a piece of cake to find foods without dairy and soy in them...and generally it is. But it is insane to see where they sneak soy and dairy in! Like tortillas! I can't even eat 3/4 of the food in our house right now. I need to go grocery shopping. Also, my sweet tooth is running overtime from breastfeeding, and everything that I want has butter, or milk, or cream, or soy in it. I found some peanut butter without soybean oil in it and tonight I ate a spoonful out of the jar just to curb my sweet tooth. Haha. Don't get me wrong, I am so totally happy to do this for Hogan. I just didn't think it would be like this. I thought it would be easy peasy to give up just like that, but it's not so much. I have been looking for recipes for Paleo foods and have had a decent amount of luck, even some cookies and stuff that I can make for when my sweet tooth tempts me. (Just to be clear. I'm not all about the Paleo "Eat only (mostly) meat and veggies!" train of thought, they just have some yummy looking recipes that, say, substitute butter with coconut milk...etc.I'm just looking at Paleo foods for inspiration, and ideas)
This time of year is especially tempting to my sweet tooth. I made the mistake of going to a candy & cookie making party with my mom, aunts and grandma...Never has my will power been tested so greatly! We made fudge, and caramels, and cookies, and turtles before I finally had to just leave. Haha. I will admit I had one bite of fudge, and I licked my finger after I was done dipping turtles....and felt like a total asshole for it! So now I have cookies and fudge and caramels sitting on top of my fridge waiting to be set out tomorrow night at our Christmas party and they have been mocking me all day...but I have not given in! I WON'T give in! I will beat my addiction to sweets!
On the up side...this has forced me to take a better look at what I use to fuel my body. Instead of grabbing a pop tart for breakfast, I eat a banana, or an apple with peanut butter, or make an egg. I found a coconut milk creamer for my coffee (Thank You!), and am finding that chocolate coconut milk is WAY nummier than chocolate cow's milk...and better for me too.
And Now for Something Completely Different: (Thank you Monty Python!)
As stated earlier, our Christmas party is tomorrow (Saturday) night!!! I have wanted to have one since we got married but we haven't had the space (in our last home) or the time (since we moved) until this year! I am so stinking excited! We have about 20 people coming- that I know of. I am making some yummy food (most of which, I can't eat, haha) and hot cocoa,(for which I made peppermint Vodka for) egg nog, champagne punch, and regular punch (for the kiddos :D) As well as a stocked bar for people to choose a beverage from. I really hope everyone has a good time and can take home some fun stories. Last time we hosted a party the last of the crowd filtered out at about 2:30AM after a rousing tournament of Mario Kart. I am hoping that things don't last quite that long this time, just because Hogan will be sleeping, but if they do, as long as nobody gets too rambunctious it should be fine.
Well I have rambled on quite long enough! Have a beautiful weekend everyone!

NEW BUSINESS!
Hey kids! I hope that this finds you all doing well!
I have recently been offered a new, exciting business adventure, and I am stoked to share it with you! My mom and her husband recently purchased our local florist business, and they asked me to run it! I am pretty darn excited about this. So far,it is pretty fun, AND I get to bring Hogan to work with me, which is awesome.
Before this came upon us, I had been planning to go back to work at the hospital (boo) for one day a week just to get out of the house, and earn a little extra money for fun stuff. However, since I will be running this business mostly, I will be working 3 days a week (Wednesday through Friday) at the florist, and my mom will work the other two (Saturday and Tuesday). The main reason I didn't want to go to work more than what I was going to is because I didn't want to miss out on anything that my little baby does. I used to work at a daycare with infants...and it absolutely BROKE my heart that I got to be the one who saw their son's first steps, or heard their daughter's first word. Even things as simple as feeding them their first bowl of rice cereal made me so sad that I was the one to do this and that their parents were missing out on so much. (Although it was pretty damn amazing to do these things personally) BUT, since I get to take him with me, I won't miss a thing! I am sure that there will be days when I will call the babysitter and see if she can take him, but for now, this is just perfect. We have been working our asses off moving, doing inventory, cleaning, and organizing, as well as taking phone orders. I am hoping we can open our doors on Tuesday...but we will see.

Our First Thanksgiving as a Family of 3!
Good day to you all!! I hope everyone had a smashing Thanksgiving holiday. This was our first Thanksgiving as a family of three. I got a little teary eyed thinking about it that morning.
Hogan woke up at 7, so we got up and watched the Macy's Parade while we cuddled on the sofa in our jammies. After that, I made my side dish that I was in charge of bringing, (recipe below!) we got dressed and ready to go, and headed to my aunt's house for Thanksgiving Dinner...which we usually eat at about 1 or 2 in the afternoon. We ate a delicious meal, watched some football, passed Hogan around to everyone and looked through the Black Friday ads to see if there was anything we couldn't live without.
We didn't go all Gung-ho on our Black Friday shopping. We didn't go at 8PM on Thanksgiving or whatever ungodly time they are starting it now...but we got up early and headed into Helena on Friday morning...and guess what...we still got everything on our lists, AND we didn't have to get elbowed in the face, or stand in line for an hour to do it. There was hardly anybody at the stores when we were there...it. was. awesome. So, we went to 5 stores, and ate breakfast and we were back home within 3 hours of leaving that morning. (The drive to and from Helena is about 45 minutes each way). Hogan was a trooper. I just left him in his pajamas since we left pretty early, and I knew we wouldn't be in there for long. He woke up for a few minutes right after we left but then passed right back out and didn't wake up again until we were almost home. I thought for sure he would wake up for good when we left, (because he's so nosy) and then be cranky all day (because he won't take naps....since he's apparently afraid he's going to miss something...I wasn't aware that what I do all day is that interesting...but I guess it is to him!) But he was just perfect, as usual! Then the rest of the day we just hung out around the house, watching movies and munching on left overs.
Saturday Hogan and I went to my mommy group, and went grocery shopping...pretty uneventful.
All in all it was a pretty nice weekend. What did you do to celebrate the Holiday?
RECIPE: Cookie Salad (a family fave)
1 SM. pkg Instant Vanilla Pudding
1 tub Cool Whip
1c. Buttermilk
1 Regular can Fruit Cocktail- Drained
1 Small can Mandarin Oranges- Drained
1 Regular can Pineapple Chunks- Drained
1 Package Shortbread Cookies (the ones with the chocolate stripes)- Crushed (set aside one "row"'s worth)
Mix Pudding and Buttermilk until combined.
Add Cool Whip, fruit and cookies and fold together.
Top with remaining cookies and Serve! I like to garnish with a cherry and a few mandarin oranges in a little flower shape.
