Supporting Our Troops

Jason and I rented the movie "Taking Chance". It is about a Marine LtCol escorting the remains of Marine PFC Chance Phelps home to Wyoming. It is a completely gut wrenching, wonderful story. It seems that a lot of people- including me- forget sometimes that we have soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan among other places that are fighting and dying every day for us. Sons, Daughters, Brothers, Sisters, Fathers, Mothers....that go over there and never come home. Last summer while Jason and I were waiting for a flight out of Kansas City, we witnessed the unloading of a soldier off of an airplane. His fellow soldiers and family were standing around him, while everyone in the terminal, stood and watched, silent, through the windows. Men removed their hats, and we watched. I felt stupid and silly because I was sitting there complaining to my husband that we were still waiting on an airplane after 2 of our flights were cancelled, and there was this family, who had lost someone they loved. My brother is going back over there for his second tour in September. Please remember these men and women, say an extra prayer for them, and don't stop until they are all home.

I am in mad needs of a massage!

Ugh! After the slip I had that I posted about in my last entry, my back has been hurting me, I must have jarred the crap out of it or something...ah well, as long as I am up and moving around all day I'm fine, but today, I was so exhausted from not sleeping last night that I didn't do a whole lot, I did laundry and took Dakota out to play with the other "neighborhood" doggies, but that's pretty much it haha. Annnnyhoo....nothing is going on really, I just thought since I haven't posted anything in awhile that I would!

Sham On!

What a week that was! Went home to Small Town, worked on the house some, YAY! We have to finish clearing some things out of it, but after that, all we have to do is Paint, Put in the new tub and bathroom floors, clean the heck out of it (since we live in the country and could have had some furry friends scurrying around...no evidence...but better safe than sorry :D )and AWAY WE GO! June is coming up quicker and quicker every day, and I am very excited to move and actually have a house and a yard and more than 450 square feet to inhabit. Both of my previous apartments were much larger and much much cheaper than this one so all of our stuff doesn't exactly fit so nice in here...even when it's clean it looks messy because it's so cluttered, and I hate it! Annnnyhoo...nothing else too exciting going on....I fell on my ass today outside when I was taking the dog out. What sucked is that there is NO SNOW or ICE, and I slipped anyways and fell on my arse, hurting my back...crap! The gound is so sloppy right now and spongy and I ate it...Im so graceful!

Quilt II

So...since I said that I would keep you updated on the quilt I am making I figured I'd better...update.... I got all the squares sewed together...woo...it's a little uneven but oh well, I don't care. It's my first "big" sweing project so I am pretty excited with the outcome. Now all I have to do is put some batting in it, put a back on, tie it and sew up the edges and I am good to go! I have to go to Small Town this week so I will hopefully be able to talk my family into helping me out with it haha.

Quilt

Oh goodness, gracious! I am making a denim quilt. I have all the squares cut finally...170 of the stoopid things. That's what I did this evening...so tomorrow I can hopefully start sweing them together. Wish me luck. I first discovered the brilliance of a denim quilt in my cousin's dorm room. We had just gotten in from an evening of drinking up in the mountains (where there was still snow)...in May...and I was FREEZING! I covered up with this amazing invention and was quickly warmed. Then I had a WONDERFUL idear! I'd BUY a denim quilt...how expensive can they be? uhhhh...pretty darn...is how. Soooo...instead, I told the fam-damily that if they had any old jeans that they were going to throw away to give them to me because I was going to make a quilt. Thanks to my Grandma-ma and my Aunt Deena, and my husband...I quickly got enough pairs(PLUS MANY MORE) to slice and dice to make the best damn blanket on the face of the planet! I have to find a snuggly fleece or flannel to put on the back...and I am excited to be able to snuggle up under the warmth and weight of my family's jeans. What's even more great is how durable they are, and they can be handed down from generation to generation.*sigh* I'll keep you updated on the progress...since I am sure you are DYING to know!

Two Years

Saturday, January 30, was the 2 year anniversary of my father's death. I miss him very much. I wanted to put this on here as a memorial to him...sometimes I worry that people, family, won't remember him and what a wonderful man he was.
